European Federation of Corrosion Events

This is a “Young Research Days' event designed to provide a platform for doctoral students, their supervisors, and experienced researchers to engage in discussions about the durability of materials in harsh environments. This event showcases the contributions of doctoral students by providing them with the opportunity to present their research related to the meeting's theme through oral presentations or posters.

Research-focused training on tribology and tribocorrosion in engineering. Covers physical and chemical principles, passive films, lab tests, limitations, and includes case studies.

This two-day theory and practice course is designed for technicians and engineers with a basic understanding of chemistry who wish to conduct and prescribe atmospheric corrosion tests in climatic chambers. The event's objectives include enhancing understanding of the factors that influence atmospheric corrosion damage (such as materials, coatings, and organic coatings), clarifying the standards and main specifications utilized in this field, assisting in the selection of atmospheric corrosion tests based on relevant applications (including automotive, aeronautics, and paint), improving test performance in climatic chambers (including implementation and reporting), providing an introduction to atmospheric corrosion, outlining the main degradation modes (for coated materials and organic coatings), and outlining test timelines: from salt spray to cyclic tests, primary standards and specifications, and characterization tools.

A course including lectures and practical sessions offered as part of the “Application of Electrochemical Techniques to Organic Coatings (AETOC)” workshop series, addressing advancements in electrochemistry applied to organic coatings. Dedicated to training PhD students and early post-docs on topics such as corrosion, surface modification, paints, electrochemical techniques, and surface analysis.

The course provides fundamental knowledge on biofilms, microorganisms, and their roles in biodeterioration and biocorrosion across various materials and environments. Participants will learn to identify causes of biocorrosion, understand sampling and analysis methods, and explore monitoring and prevention strategies. Targeted at researchers, engineers, doctoral students, and industrial professionals with a basic understanding of physics and chemistry, the course covers biofilm formation, microbial impact, in-situ monitoring techniques, and real-world case studies, including on-site analysis methods.
