Accelerated climate testing, theory and practice

Accelerated climate testing, theory and practice took place Oct 7–9, 2025 in Brest, France. It was a Course event for corrosion and materials science professionals in the Europe region. This two-day theory and practice course is designed for technicians and engineers with a basic understanding of chemistry who wish to conduct and prescribe atmospheric corrosion tests in climatic chambers. The event's objectives include enhancing understanding of the factors that influence atmospheric corrosion damage (such as materials, coatings, and organic coatings), clarifying the standards and main specifications utilized in this field, assisting in the selection of atmospheric corrosion tests based on relevant applications (including automotive, aeronautics, and paint), improving test performance in climatic chambers (including implementation and reporting), providing an introduction to atmospheric corrosion, outlining the main degradation modes (for coated materials and organic coatings), and outlining test timelines: from salt spray to cyclic tests, primary standards and specifications, and characterization tools.
